Sean M. Dalton, Executive Vice President of Munich Reinsurance America Inc., a subsidiary of reinsurance giant Munich Re, has been elected chair of the American Institute of Marine Underwriters (AIMU).
Dalton, who is Head of Marine Underwriting, North America and Head of Global Marine Facultative, succeeds Anthony Cowie, Head of Marine Reinsurance for the Americas, part of Swiss Re’s Global Special Lines Division.
At the same time, Karen Griswold, Executive Vice President at Chubb, will become AIMU’s new Vice Chair, while Brian Murphy, Senior Vice President at Berkley Offshore Underwriting Managers, will become Director of Finances.
A renowned figure across the sector, Dalton serves the marine industry through a variety of organisations.
He has been with Munich Re for just over a decade, having joined in September 2014 as
Moreover, he also serves as Vice President and member of the Executive Committee for the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI), and he is also a former member of the Policy Forum and Chair of the IUMI Cargo Committee.
In addition, Dalton is also Chair of the National Cargo Bureau (NCB), and he is also a member of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
Previously, Dalton served as Executive Vice President, Head Marine Division of Zurich North America, a role he held for just over four years.
