It’s not always easy to find the right health insurance plan for your needs, but we’re here to help. If you have pre-existing conditions that are looking for a way to cover them from day one, then this post is for you. Health Scout has some of the best deals on health insurance plans with pre-existing condition coverage if you need it and want something affordable!
Pre-existing conditions are not exclusions. A lot of people think that they can’t be covered by a health insurance plan because they have a pre-existing condition and even if they get coverage, it might start later. They also think that the coverage is only partial, and hospitals won’t cover the full amount for their bill. But this is not true! There are plans that will give them health insurance and coverage, even with their pre-existing condition.
With the passage of the ACA, the law required all qualified major medical plans offered through healthcare.gov to cover pre-existing conditions from day one.
The ACA has a list of nine conditions that are pre-existing. They are AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, Cushing’s syndrome, diabetes (type I), endometriosis or other uterine disorder leading to pelvic pain and infertility; hemophilia; hepatitis B surface antigen deficiency; human immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV); sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome.
So now that we know there are ways to receive health benefits from day one, how do we find the best individual health insurance plans?
There are 3 ways to find health insurance:
- Go to a Health Insurance Marketplace. These are places that have qualified plans and lower deductibles than employer plans.
- Talk with an independent insurance agent or broker who is authorized in your state. They can help you compare costs of premium rates for various providers and coverage levels, so you make sure the plan meets all your needs (like if it has pediatric).
- You can start looking on your own with our very own healthcare.gov portal by clicking here. This site has basic information about all the medical policies they have, plus they have tools to help you decide.
