Gallagher Re adds Andrew Phelan as Chairman of Global Credit, Surety, and Political Risk

Gallagher Re, a global reinsurance brokerage and risk advisory firm, has appointed Andrew Phelan as Chairman of Global Credit, Surety (except US), and Political Risk.

gallagher re logoIn his new role, Phelan will be based in Bermuda and focus on expanding the broker’s presence across the UK and International markets.

Most recently, Phelan served as the Head of Specialty Lines (Bermuda) and as the Global Product Lead at MS Amlin, the Lloyd’s global insurer and reinsurer, also based in Bermuda for over a decade. In the role, his primary focus was on Political Risk, Trade Credit, Surety and Mortgage.

Before this, he was a Senior Broker at Aon Benfield until December 2014, based in London and New York.

Prior to this, he held the roles of Vice President and Head of Trade Credit for Radian Asset Assurance Limited.

Phelan started his career as a Graduate Trainee in the Oil & Gas Insurance division of Sedgwick Insurance Brokers, eventually moving to the role of Reinsurance broker at Benfield Greig and later transitioning as the Director of NCM (now Atradius CyC) Re in 2001.
