Bruce Dettling has been appointed to the role of Global Head of Mining and Heavy Industry for Gallagher, where he will be responsible for leading the firm’s global specialist practice with teams based in the UK, Latin America, Canada and Australia.
Dettling, who is set to join Gallagher in November, will report to Malcolm Payton, CEO, Property & Casualty Insurance Solutions and Head of Global Fac at Gallagher Specialty.
Overall, Dettling brings two decades of broking experience towards his new role. Throughout most of his career, he has specialised in mining and associated industries, however he also has valuable experience in property and casualty broking too.
He joins Gallagher from Aon, where he most recently served as Head of Mining, based in London.
In addition, he has also previously held roles at Lloyd & Partners and Marsh.
“Bruce will be a fantastic leader of our global mining team and his appointment further reinforces our expertise in mining and heavy industry, which has complex insurance needs,” commented Payton.
Adding: “He has an enviable track record of strong client relationships and business development and his experience of clients across the globe provides him with a broad understanding of different geographies within the sector. His client-first attitude matches the Gallagher approach and we are looking forward to him joining.”
