The Association of British Insurers (ABI), the trade body representing the UK’s insurance and long-term savings industry, has announced the appointment of Chris Bose as Director of General Insurance & International, effective August 11, 2025.
Bose, an experienced public policy practitioner with extensive expertise in financial services, is joining ABI from Nationwide Building Society, where he has worked for the past decade.
During this time, he led the Policy and Public Affairs function and served as Interim Director of Corporate Affairs.
Prior to this, the executive worked in a variety of government affairs and policy roles in Santander, having started his career in consultancy at financial services advisory firm Lansons.
Bose also possesses considerable policymaking experience, having been seconded to HM Treasury during the pandemic. In 2023, he further contributed by delivering a review for the Chancellor on the future of payment systems.

He brings significant policy and government relations experience to the role and will be well-placed to strategically deliver on priority issues for our members.”
