The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has announced the addition of two new Board members from two of its managing agents’ members.
The two new members are Vivek Syal, Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) who will be taking over from Matthew Shaw as the TMK representative, and John Owen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AXIS Managing Agency (AMA), who will replace Mark Gregory of the same firm ahead of his upcoming retirement.
Syal has served as CUO of Tokio Marine Kiln since April, after spending over six years serving as the firm’s Group Chief Risk Officer.
Before he joined TMK, Syal worked at ProSight Specialty Insurance (now Coaction Specialty), where he served as the company’s Chief Risk Officer for just over a year.
In addition, between November 2010 – May 2015, he served as a Director at PwC.
Meanwhile, Owen was appointed CEO of AXIS Managing Agency in November 2023.
Having worked at the firm for over 19 years, Owen has undertaken both underwriting and leadership roles in AXIS and Novae, which AXIS acquired in 2017.
“I am pleased to welcome Vivek and John to the LMA Board. Their experience and perspectives will help to steer the LMA Board as we continue to ensure the Lloyd’s market can solve our clients’ most complex risks,” commented Sheila Cameron, CEO of the LMA.
“I would like to thank Matthew and Mark for their contributions during their tenure on the LMA Board and wish Mark the best in his retirement,” said Andrew Brooks, Chairman of the LMA and Non-Executive Director of Ascot Group Limited.
