Patrick (Paddy) Jago, Chairman of global reinsurance brokerage Gallagher Re, is set to retire at the end of 2026, concluding a 50-year career in the industry.

He also led Global Sales and Growth efforts, a role that saw him driving business production and maintaining key client relationships in the US, the London Market, and internationally.
Jago previously served as Global Chairman of Willis Re, which Gallagher acquired in 2021, and before that worked at broker Aon, where he was Chief Executive Officer of North America responsible for property and casualty Reinsurance.
Earlier in his career, in 1990, the executive joined Nicholson Chamberlain Colls (NCC) in order to set up a North American treaty reinsurance division. Over the subsequent 15 years, he built the division into the largest of its kind in London.
From 1981 to 1989, Jago was with C. T. Bowring, where his early career developed. In 1983, he spent a year working and training at the St. Paul Insurance Companies. Upon his return in 1984, he advanced within the company, achieving the position of Director of Bowring Reinsurance in 1987.
Before Bowring, he was with Willis Faber and Dumas on the North American facultative team (1976 to 1980). In 1975 he served at H.J. Symons, the oldest Lloyd’s broker at the time, where he started his career.
Commenting on Jago’s retirement, Tom Wakefield, CEO of Gallagher Re, said: “Anyone who has had the privilege of working alongside Paddy knows how instrumental he has been to the success and growth of Gallagher Re. His leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on our business, and he will be greatly missed.
“While there will be many opportunities over the coming months to celebrate Paddy’s remarkable career and his immense contributions to the industry and Gallagher Re, I would like to take this moment to warmly congratulate him on reaching this incredible milestone.”
