Testudo, a technology and data company underwriting artificial intelligence (AI) risks, has announced the appointment of Peter Wedge as General Counsel.

Wedge brings almost four decades of insurance and reinsurance experience, specialising in AI and cyber risks.
He joins Testudo from Gallagher Re, where he served as Director of Cyber Wordings. He also chairs the Cyber Insurance Association and the Reinsurance Wordings Expert Forum, and holds committee positions across BIBA, the IUA, AIDA Europe, and the Insurance Institute of London.
Prior to that, Wedge spent 12 years at Swiss Re Zurich, most recently serving as Reinsurance Contracts Counsel. He has also served as Global Head of Claims Solutions at SCOR/Converium in New York and Zurich.
George Lewin-Smith, CEO of Testudo, said, “Peter brings more than 40 years of legal insurance experience to our team across specialist wordings, claims management and contract counsel. This is a crucial foundation for our business, especially as we are initially focused on AI liability risk. We couldn’t be more excited for Peter to be joining.”
“AI brings both enormous potential and novel exposures,” said Wedge. “My goal at Testudo is to ensure that coverage keeps pace with innovation. When I first met George and Mark, I immediately felt their vision matched my own – pragmatic, technical, and ambitious. It’s an ideal partnership for defining the next chapter of AI risk insurance.”
