Chris Wilson appointed to lead unified fleet and commercial motor division at ERS

07/10/2025 by Linda

ERS, a UK specialist motor insurer, has announced the promotion of Chris Wilson to Head of Fleet and Commercial Motor.

This follows Scott Tillbrook’s move into the role of Active Underwriter and marks a strategic shift to bring two closely connected areas under one leadership structure.

Since joining ERS in 2014, Wilson has been instrumental in shaping a high-performing Fleet underwriting team, known for delivering consistent growth and profitability even through market challenges.

His approach has been underpinned by strong broker partnerships and a reputation for responsiveness and service quality.

Wilson’s new responsibilities now include oversight of the full Commercial Motor portfolio, which spans Transportation, Courier, Specialist Commercial Vehicle, Taxi, Minibus, and Coach & Bus.

ERS provides cover for up to five vehicles—or up to ten in certain segments—via its eTrade platform, which offers brokers 24/7 access to instant quotes, mid-term adjustments, and renewals. More complex or unusual risks are reviewed by ERS’s underwriting experts to ensure appropriate and tailored coverage.

Tillbrook said: “Chris has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and underwriting expertise. His deep understanding of the Fleet market, combined with his ability to build trusted broker relationships, makes him the ideal person to lead both portfolios. This move will help us drive greater consistency and create more opportunities for growth in a competitive market.”

Wilson added: “Bringing Fleet and Commercial together makes perfect sense given the significant overlap in vehicle types, risk profiles, and broker base. By aligning these classes, we can create more consistent and straightforward propositions and provide a smoother, more effective and efficient service to brokers. This approach not only helps us better understand and manage risks across the board, but also opens new opportunities to support brokers with individual vehicles, mixed or evolving fleets, ultimately strengthening partnerships and driving growth.”
