The Supervisory Board of DEVK Rückversicherungs- und Beteiligungs-AG-DEVK RE has announced the appointment of Annette Hetzenegger and Dr. Fabian Pütz as new members of the Executive Board, effective June 1, 2025.
Hetzenegger will be fully responsible for the DEVK Group’s investment division. While Pütz will be in charge of the reinsurance division and will remain as Chief Executive Officer of ECHO Reinsurance Ltd. in Zurich, a company DEVK Group company.
These appointments follow the retirement of long-standing Executive Board member Bernd Zens in April. Initially, the responsibilities for the reinsurance division were taken over on an interim basis by long-standing Chairman of the Executive Board Gottfried Rüßmann and the future Chairman Michael Knaup.
However, with Rüßmann also set to retire at the end of the year, and Knaup poised to succeed him as Chairman, the Supervisory Board has therefore initiated a generational change.
Pütz has been with DEVK since 2011, starting as a student trainee. He progressed through the company, serving as an executive assistant to Bernd Zens on various reinsurance and investment projects.
From 2018, he took over responsibility for the divisions Controlling, Technical Accounting/Claims and Business Intelligence/Reporting at ECHO Rückversicherungs-AG in Zurich, which is also part of the DEVK Group.
DEVK RE serves clients in Europe and North America, ECHO RE in the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. In May 2022, Pütz took over as Chief Executive Officer of ECHO RE.
The Supervisory Board’s decision to appoint Hetzenegger and Pütz underscores the DEVK Group’s commitment to the continued success of its reinsurance business.
This division now accounts for nearly a quarter of the Group’s premium income, and has become a key driver of growth for the organisation.
